The murder of Francisco Villalba
Álvaro Uribe Vélez and the slaughter of El Aro

After the testimony offered last year to the Attorney General's Office and the Congress, was murdered on April 23, 2009.

The slaughter of El Aro was one of the cruelest perpetrated by paramilitaries during a week strolled freely through the area, committing atrocities against its people and their possessions: "With all the parsimony the case, and knowing that nothing will prevent its calculated butchery, hunted, tortured and vejaron his 17 victims, 42 of the 60 burned houses, stole 1,200 cattle and forced 702 residents to flee for their lives [ 3]. Francisco Villalba, the protagonist of this story, studied up to fifth primary. Despite the reported, the news of the murder of Villalba would have no greater significance in a country taken over by violence. What makes it unique is that in their testimony linked the current president of Colombia, Alvaro Uribe Velez, with a slaughter.

Alvaro's brother, Santiago Uribe, is the owner of the paramilitary group the Twelve Apostles. is not easy to believe this testimony of Villalba but the facts generated by at least several questions:
If a witness was so exceptional that had been subjected to attacks and stated that they would kill him, why he was given house arrest without providing protection?
If you believed Villalba when he confessed the slaughter of El Aro, which is why the Colombian courts convicted him, along with Mancuso and Castano, why now gives credence to the letter another paramilitary in which asserts that Villalba had no control or involvement in the events? Why suddenly appears in
Presidency Republic, a letter purportedly from Villalba in ensuring that was not true what he said the president, but Villalba himself stresses that he did not write?
Why are widely available and gives credence to that letter, according to Noticias Uno research and opinion of a handwriting expert, but did not write Villalba another prisoner made through an intermediary to get the Presidency of the Republic? [15].
Why the defense says there is no evidence that the governor's helicopter was in the ring during the slaughter because does not appear in the records of governance, but also the testimony of Villalba, paramilitary leader Salvatore Mancuso said in its free version of the November 18, 2008 that "a helicopter flew the governor of Antioquia during the slaughter Aro [16 ].

Finally, note that Salvatore Mancuso, one of those implicated in the testimony of Francisco Villalba, and who was extradited by President Uribe over a year to the United States, in an interview to Cambio magazine entitled 'Me extradited the truth, "says [20]:" If the paramilitaries, who were supposedly friends of the government, Mancuso , personal friend of Uribe

A la pregunta sobre la razón de su extradición, Mancuso responde: «El gobierno se asustó con las actividades de algunos comandantes y porque estábamos reconstruyendo la verdad».

En su voto razonado sobre las masacres de El Aro y La Granja, el juez de la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade wrote, quoting Ionesco [21]:
"We are now overwhelmed by the reason of state that allows all: genocide, murder, bring to heel the intellectuals ... The State is the defense of the crime.
